The light show may be visible from up to nine states Tuesday evening, according to NOAA forecasts.
"Unlike any objects we know, these filaments really surprised us," said astronomer Kai Yang.
"Staying on standard time year-round is much better," biologist Carla Finkelstein told Newsweek about the increasingly controversial practice.
"We're putting real, holistic numbers around the risk level posed by cybercriminals to critical infrastructure," said cybersecurity expert Charles Harry.
"It's like a city frozen in time," said archaeologist Pedro Guillermo Ramón Celis of Canada's McGill University.
